Week 1: Getting Ready to Learn

            So, it is our first class for subject Study Skills. Honestly, im kind of sleepy on that day (i dont know what i did at night). Judging from the word Study Skills, i do believe that we're going to learn some skills in learning. Sort of. And i happened to be right (atleast that's what i think 😜). I guess it's a great opportunity for students like us to be teached something like this as we all know life as a university student are way different from when we're in school. So, this subject is a great method for us to learn many effective ways that we can apply in our learning.

           For today topic is Getting Ready to Learn by Dr Fauzi bin Azmi. He told us the purpose of learning study skills. Study skills teached us a lot of ways that we can use in adapting our life as a student. Not to forget, university is different. I mean, our schedule is not as pack as we are in school. The way of lectures are also different. In university, we need to survive on our own without depending on others. Therefore, this subject gives a lot of benefits for us as student. Topic that are included in Study Skills are;

  • Getting Ready to Learn
  • Goal Setting
  • Library and Campus Resources
  • Time Management and Organizational Skills
  • Memory Learning & Improving Concentration
  • Taking Lecture Notes
  • Academic Integrity & Performance

           He also told us some of the assessments that needed to be done during this interim week. The asssessments are divided by two, which are; e-portfolio and video. E-portfolio is like making a report about what we learnt throughout the topic just like what I'm doing right now. There are a lot of option such as blogspot, wattpad and many more. While video, we needed to create a video about 5 places in our campus.

           He also said that if our attendance are lower than 80%, we cannot take our final exam.  But that doesn't mean we can skip our classes and take it for granted. Skip your class might caused you to lost some knowledges. Eventhough you still can ask your friend about it, it still not the same as what our lecturer teach us. And a reminder from him to us, never depend on our lecturer 100% because in university, you have to life by your own. Do a lot of readings as our lecture won't teach us as specific as our teacher did in school. I guess that's all for this week. Bye 😀😀
